Members of the Commission of Fine Arts

The Commission of Fine Arts is composed of seven members. They are appointed by the President and serve without compensation for four-year terms. The Chair and Vice-Chair are elected by the members. Past Commission members include architects and landscape architects Daniel Burnham, Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr., Gilmore Clarke, Chloethiel Smith and Victorine du Pont Homsey and artists Daniel Chester French, J. Alden Weir, Paul Manship and Frederick Hart. Recent Chairs of the Commission include William Walton and J. Carter Brown, who served from 1971 to 2002 and Harry G. Robinson III, FAIA.
