6 December 2004
Dear Mr. Jackson:
During its meeting of 18 November 2004, the Commission reviewed the proposed
revised concept for the replacement building for the Tenley-Friendship Branch
Library located at 4450 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. The proposal has not responded
to the comments previously given and requires additional design work. Although
the library should have a strong civic presence, the current design more closely
resembles a commercial structure. The detailing of this design will be extremely
important in the success of the project and should be submitted for review as
early as possible in the design development process. Please submit a revised
concept for review when ready.
The Commission looks forward to the future review of this and other projects
for the District of Columbia Public Libraries. Our next meeting is scheduled
for Tuesday the 25th of January 2005, with a submission deadline on the 6th
of January. The staff is always available to assist you.
Sincerely,
/s/Frederick J. Lindstrom
