Dear Mr. Jacobs:

In the last meeting of 17 November, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed the revised landscape concept for three new mixed-use buildings including the National Children's Museum at L'Enfant Plaza on the 10th Street Promenade (S.L. 06-026). The Commission appreciated the opportunity to meet with the applicant team at the site to inspect the proposed paving materials and to observe the context of the project. The members continued to express concern about the proximity of the proposed air-rights buildings in the corners of the property to the adjacent headquarters of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Commission requests that you meet with the General Services Administration to review the impact of the proposal on the HUD building and that the Commission staff participate in the discussion.

The Commission approved the revised landscape plan in concept and looks forward to further review of this project. As always, the Commission staff is available should you require further guidance.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas Luebke, AIA
