RECOMMENDATION Returned without Action. Concept case is superseded by new concept application under O.G. 07-137.

RECOMMENDATION: The Commission regrets that work was initiated prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement windows on front façade with Pella all-wood 1/1 double-hung Architect Series LX windows, and for aluminum-clad windows to match same detailing on side and rear facades, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 24 April and 21 May 2007 PROVIDED half-screens are used. Front door will be retained and repaired. Replacement rear fence and alteration to door opening at rear façade are deleted from this permit application. Note: Because application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for front basement entrance stairs as shown in drawings dated 16 March 2007, which, as proposed, is inappropriate to this building and the historic district. File new submission of detailed drawings for two proposed basement windows on bay with separate permit application for review by the Commission when ready. Note is made that windows were replaced and two new window openings were installed without review or permit and must be submitted for review separately.

RECOMMENDATION: Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for alterations to raise height of existing brick retaining wall. Recommend repair of existing wall and stair.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for existing sign composed of 12-inch high back-lit letters reading "Artefacto" installed on the historic façade. The oversized internally-illuminated sign box on new building, which is inappropriate to the historic district, was NOT approved and must be removed no later than 30 June 2007. The Commission regrets that the permit for the oversized and back-lit signs was issued incorrectly prior to and without Commission's review or approval. Note: Because application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for alterations, as proposed, to the building. No objection to pin-mounted back-lit letters no taller than 12" reading "Ligne Roset" on street façade. Reduce number of banners and length of steel and glass canopy along alley. File new submission, including details and dimensions, with permit application for review by the Commission when ready.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for two proposed banners with lettering no greater than 12" in height PROVIDED marine blue fabric and brushed aluminum bracket are used. Brackets to be attached through mortar joints. Note: Because the application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: The Commission regrets that work was completed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for three awnings with logo on valances, and for 8-inch high letters reading "Ed Chasen Fine Art" and logo mounted on wall. Note: Because application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for relocation of awnings and sign scheme composed of lettering on each valance reading "Sisley". Work conforms to previous recommendations under case O.G. 06-156). Note: Because application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for new sign scheme composed of vinyl leaves and 12" tall letters reading "sweetgreen" per drawings dated 13 April 2007. Note: Because the application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: The Commission regrets that sign was installed prior to review or permit. Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for existing 1'-6" high sign which is inappropriate to the historic building. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed new sign composed of 12-inch high brass letters reading "Used Books" on sign panel to replace existing oversized letters, as shown in option on supplemental drawings dated 18 April 2007. Work must be completed no later than 31 August 2007. Note: Because application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit to replace existing metal roofing with standing seam copper, including copper gutter/downspout, and for repair of wood eave in-kind. Note: Because the application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement front door, new light fixture and new mechanical equipment on roof, which will be located so as to limit visibility from public thoroughfare, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 20 April and 2 May 2007. Front and side windows will be repaired. RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed shed dormer between existing dormers on south slope of roof as shown in supplemental drawings dated 20 April and 7 May 2007 which indicate face of new dormer set-back 12-inches from existing dormers. RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed canvas awning with lettering reading "Hook" on slope. Note: Because application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed alterations for new entrance and handicapped access ramp as shown in supplemental drawings dated 6 June 2007 which indicate use of clear glass on storefront pulled away from columns, replication of historic railing detailing, and an address pin-mounted to new precast sign panel. Canopy is removed from this permit application. RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for new French doors and iron balcony at rear as shown in drawings dated 20 April 2007. RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement of fence and gate with new 7-ft high board and batten wood fence and for new fence along property line as shown in supplemental drawings dated 1 May 2007. New fence and gate must be painted or stained with finished side facing onto public space.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for new metal fence with solid panels as shown in supplemental drawings dated 10 May 2007. RECOMMENDATION: The Commission regrets that work on windows was completed prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for existing alterations to windows at second floor level, for added skylight and roof vents, and for proposed steel stairs and balconies at rear. Note: Because application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for new wood door in existing masonry opening; new sconces to use existing junction boxes as shown in supplemental drawings dated 3 May 2007. RECOMMENDATION: The Commission regrets that work on the rooftop railing was begun prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for railing and planters on roof per drawings submitted 13 April 2007. RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed demolition of garden walls, gates, rear deck and fence in coordination with future construction at rear, which received prior approval under case O.G. 07-033. Note: Because application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed retaining wall and 7-ft high wood board fence as shown in supplemental drawings dated 25 April 2007, in coordination with future construction at rear, which received prior approval under case O.G. 07-033. 20-ft high metal poles to support bamboo plants are deleted from this permit application. Note: Because application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval.

RECOMMENDATION: Returned without Action. Submitted materials and a site visit of 2 May 2007 indicate that proposed shed at basement level under first floor porch at rear will not be visible from public thoroughfare.

RECOMMENDATION: No objection to issuance of permit for proposed excavation and foundation-to-grade work in coordination with proposed two-story rear addition and front porch. Note is made that foundation work is at applicant's risk since above ground work is still under concept review. (See case O.G. 07-139).
