23 September 2005 Dear Mr. Jaroch: During its last meeting of 15 September, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed and approved the revised concept for the complete renovation of the Nassif Building (400 7th Street, SW) that currently houses the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Transportation. The Commission members commented that the revised design has responded positively to the significant comments given at the last review. However, they asked that the material treatment on the upper portion of the corner elements should receive further study as the project develops. The Commission looks forward to seeing further development of the design for the building prior to final review. As always, the Commission staff is available should you require further guidance. Sincerely, /s/Thomas Luebke, AIA Timothy D. Jaroch, Senior Vice President cc: David King, SmithGroup Last Modified: September 23, 2005
