23 June 2006

Dear Mr. McGill:

In the meeting of 15 June, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed several proposals concerning the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Headquarters currently under construction: the installation of three rooftop antennas; a single flagpole on the northwest side of the site; and a public art project consisting of four panels interpreting the history of the surrounding communities.

The Commission gave final approval for the rooftop antennas and the public art project without any objections. However, the Commission members did not approve the proposed flagpole on the opposite side of the block from the building's main entrance where regulation flagpoles will be located. They concluded that this additional single flagpole was unnecessary and could potentially confuse a visitor looking for the main entranceway.

Sincerely,

/s/Thomas Luebke, AIA
