No objection to the issuance of a permit for exterior modifications to the north and west facades of an existing building, including the installation of a replacement front entrance door; a replacement ceiling and light fixtures at the arcade and the entrance marquee; and new metal sign bands along P and 22nd Street for future retail signage, as shown in materials received and dated 3 May 2024, pending the receipt of supplemental materials. Recommend AGAINST the issuance of a permit for the installation of special paving and a new planter in public space at the front entrance area; a new glass railing with integrated lighting in the top rail in public space along P Street, NW, as shown in materials received and dated 3 May 2024, due to the unsuitability of glass for a railing in this location and the proposed location of the planter and special paving in public space. Forward a new and completely documented submission when ready. Signs are not included in this review; forward a new and complete submission for signs that conform with the Shipstead-Luce Act area sign regulations when ready. Refer to DC Public Space Committee.
