Dear Ms. Devnich:
The Commission was pleased to see you at its 17 June 2004 meeting for the review of the proposed alterations to Building 101 at the Washington Navy Yard.
Both the proposed addition of the canopy over the entrance and the proposed in-fill of the passageway between the two wings of the building need to be more integrated with its historic character. Use of detailing that is present in the building, and a more sensitive design will make the additions fit well in the overall context. We encourage you to work with the staff in the revisions to the design.
The Commission looks forward to further review of the design, and to reviewing additional projects for the Navy throughout the city.
