Letter
Dear Ms. Condon:
In its meeting of 16 June, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed the design for the proposed Jewish Chaplains Memorial Monument to be placed in Arlington National Cemetery on Chaplains Hill in Section 2 in line with the three existing chaplain monuments. The Commission members commented that the proposed design is dignified and appropriately sized, and would provide a fitting commemoration of the Jewish chaplains who died while serving in the American armed forces. The Commission approved the design as a concept with the recommendation to remove the underlining from the text on the bronze plaque, commenting that this extra emphasis is an unnecessary graphic treatment of the capitalized headings.
For the final review, the Commission requested a revised drawing of the plaque and delegated its approval to the staff, which is available to assist you with the submission.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
