Letter
Dear Ms. Peters:
In its meeting of 19 November, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed the Federal Reserve Board's revised concept design for the renovation of and additions to the William McChesney Martin, Jr. Building at 2000 C Street, NW. The Commission members again acknowledged the difficulty of making an addition to the highly resolved architectural form of the Martin Building and appreciated the efforts by the design team to explore multiple variations of the proposed project.
The Commission concluded that the submitted scheme with articulated pavilions and recessive granite-clad hyphens is the most successful solution of the variations presented in integrating the forms of the new additions with the existing architecture. The Commission approved the submitted concept design and delegated the review and approval of the final submission of the construction documents to the staff. As always, the staff is available to assist you with the final submission for this project and with future projects.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, AIA
