Letter
Dear Mr. Lew:
In its meeting of 16 October, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed and approved the revised concept design for the replacement of the H. D. Woodson Senior High School at 5500 Eads Street, NE. The Commission members acknowledged the continued refinement of the design for the building and its relationship to the site. They commented that the sophisticated design details that were presented will involve considerable complexity in construction and maintenance; they recommended an emphasis on simplicity as the architectural and site design are further developed, suggesting that the more complex design features would be most valuable at the entrance areas and other key locations.
The Commission looks forward to further review of the design and requested that the final submission include additional information on such details as lighting, fencing, and landscaping. As always, the staff is available to assist you with the next submission.
Sincerely,
Thomas E. Luebke, AIA
