Dear Mr. Grigg:
In its meeting of 18 June, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed a revised concept submission for Portals V, a new residential building to be located at 1331 Maryland Avenue, SW (case number SL 15-126). Expressing appreciation for the continuing development of the design, the Commission endorsed the proposed revisions, including the adjustments to the building facades and the increase in height by 23 inches over the previously approved concept design. The Commission members acknowledged the addition of through-wall vents and recommended further study of the articulation of the facade, including the development of the precast panel joints and the associated treatment of the vents.
The Commission looks forward to the review of the next submission, including a revised landscape design. As always, the staff is available to assist you.
