Letter
Dear Mr. Jeppson:
In its meeting of 17 September, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed alternative designs for a commemorative coin recognizing the centennial of the Lions Clubs International.
In their discussion, the Commission members commented on the design alternatives' lack of symbolic connection with the mission of the Lions Clubs, and the overly styled depiction of the animals. However, noting that the artwork would likely benefit from refinement during the engraving process, the Commission recommended obverse #2 and reverse #5-B, in support of the preferences of the Mint's liaison from the Lions Clubs.
As always, the staff is available to assist you with future submissions.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
