Letter
Dear Mr. Sanders:
At the beginning of its meeting of 21 November, the Commission of Fine Arts, based on its prior review of the submission materials, approved the concept design for the installation of perimeter security barriers for the U.S. Department of State at the American Pharmacists Association building at 2215 Constitution Avenue, NW (alternate address 2200 C Street, case number SL 14-018). The Commission recommended that the geometry of the decorative metal fencing proposed between the granite–clad piers be carefully studied in relation to the sloping sidewalks, requesting that the project team continue to consult with the staff as the design is developed.
Please coordinate the submission for the next review with the staff which, as always, is available to assist you.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
