Letter
Dear Mr. Peterson:
In its meeting of 21 November, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed alternative reverse designs for the American Eagle platinum coin to be issued in 2014, the final coin in the commemorative series based on the themes of the Preamble to the United States Constitution. The Commission members recommended alternative #12 as the most concise and legible design, commenting on the poetic symbolism of the oak sapling as a metaphor for the theme, and on the simple symmetrical clarity of the composition.
As always, the staff is available to assist you with future submissions.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
