Letter
Dear Mr. Weaver:
In its meeting of 21 July, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed a revised concept design for additions and alterations to Murch Elementary School, located at 4810 36th Street, NW. Expressing appreciation for the responsiveness to comments from previous reviews, the Commission approved the submission.
The Commission members observed that the design of the addition has improved in its relationship with the historic school building, both in the massing and composition of the facades and in the selection and color of building materials. They commented that the landscape design also appears more cohesive, with the comprehensive approach to stormwater management, the elimination of redundant paths, and the development of a more robust planting plan.
The Commission looks forward to review of the final design submission. As always, the staff is available to assist you.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
