Letter
Dear Mr. Reyes-Gavilan:
In its meeting of 20 October, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed the final design submission for alterations and additions to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library at 901 G Street, NW. Understanding the extensive historic preservation consultation process undertaken for this significant building by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, the Commission reiterated its strong support for the project and approved the final design.
The Commission again commends the District of Columbia Public Library for its exemplary program of library modernizations and new construction, and looks forward to the completion of this important project for the central library. As always, the staff is available to assist with future submissions.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
