The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts is saddened to note the passing of former member Carolyn J. Deaver. An accomplished public relations and event planning consultant, she was also noted for her charitable and philanthropic work, serving on the board of the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation and leading Look Good Feel Better, a program dedicated to helping cancer patients cope with the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. Deaver was born and educated in California, and moved to Washington in 1981, when her husband Michael K. Deaver was asked to serve as President Ronald Reagan’s Deputy Chief of Staff.
