Dear Mr. Hunter:
In its public meeting of 15 February conducted by videoconference, the Commission of Fine Arts approved, based on its prior review of the submission materials, a concept design for the new Crummell Community Center, to be located at 1900 Gallaudet Street, NE, in the Ivy City neighborhood. The Commission members requested the opportunity for further review of the landscape, which appears less developed than the building architecture; they also encouraged some differentiation in color between the proposed addition and the historic school to avoid a heavy, monolithic appearance.
As the design is developed, please continue to consult with the staff which,
as always, is available to assist you.
