Letter
Dear Mr. Hunter:
In its public meeting of 21 November conducted by videoconference, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed a second concept submission for a replacement building and landscape modifications at the Frederick Douglass Community Center at 1922 Frederick Douglass Court, SE. Expressing support for the project, the Commission approved the concept and provided the following comments.
The Commission members expressed appreciation for the responsiveness to their previous comments regarding program spaces in the building, roof access for maintenance, detailed energy modeling, and landscape design. They encouraged further refinement of the site design by creating more gracious connections from the new building to the playing field and courts.
The Commission looks forward to further review of this important new community facility. Please continue to consult with the staff which, as always, is available to assist you with the next submission.
Sincerely,
/S/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
