Recommendation
No objection to design development submission for demolition of the existing two-story building and the construction of a new two-story brick recreation center and site improvements, per supplemental materials received 18 September 2025, PROVIDED the entrance canopy dimension is coordinated with the adjacent cast stone elements; the soffit material is copper; landscaping and paving layout and materials are restudied and their extent reduced; bench locations are restudied; additional trees are placed within the parking lot; bollards are restudied to be sufficiently sturdy to protect pedestrians; fencing is vertical wood slats; solar panels do not extend over pool and are arranged in an orthogonal manner with landscaping at their base and supports painted dark green or dark gray; and the material of the mechanical enclosure at the pool is revised to match the adjacent building. File permit submission with detailed and dimensioned drawings for review by the Commission. This recommendation is made by the Old Georgetown Board of the Commission of Fine Arts and will be presented to the Commission for final adoption at its next meeting.
