Recommendation

No objection to concept design for various exterior alterations at Gervase Hall, per supplemental materials received 19 June 2026, PROVIDED all the existing bricks are retained, including those that are mismatched; any damaged sills should be repaired but any found to be damaged beyond repair must match the existing in material, size, and profile; the stone thresholds at the first-floor doors on the east elevation must be retained; the brownstone stair structural supports at the southwest corner of the building must be salvaged in addition to the adjacent brownstone stairs proposed to be reused; interior photos are included of each floor; the proposed windows in each dormer are either 2/3 casement or 9/9 double hung sash depending on the period of significance of the rehabilitation project determined by the architect; all new windows must be wood, true-divided lite with no glass coatings and details are included for each proposed window; the lites in the proposed doors and transoms are proportional and match those in the 1975 drawings; the solid doors (Level 0/North Egress Door) must be metal or wood and not FRP; and HVAC locations must be included in the permit submission. File permit submission at DOB with detailed and dimensioned drawings for review by the Commission.
