Dear Mr. Evey:
During its meeting of 19 June, the Commission reviewed the design for a replacement building for the Center Court Cafe at the Pentagon. Although enlarging the footprint is appropriate, the design of the pavilion should be simplified by reducing the number of disparate elements and materials. The structure should be more gardenesque to minimize its effect on the mature and well-tended landscape of the center courtyard.
The Commission looks forward to further review of this project prior to granting concept approval. As always, the staff is available should you require guidance.
