Ann Todd Free has been active in preservation organizations in Washington, D.C., serving as president of the Vice President’s Residence Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting in the preservation and furnishing of the vice president’s official home. She also served as president of the Sheraton-Kalorama Neighborhood Council, which seeks to preserve historic land uses in the neighborhood. Early in her career, Free worked for the American Bankers Association and in the congressional offices of James R. Mann (D-SC) and Butler Derrick (D-SC). She received her undergraduate degree in English literature from Salem College in North Carolina.
