Letter
Dear Mr. Teikari,
During its meeting of 15 July, the Commission reviewed the concept plans for the replacement Boundary Channel Bridge on the George Washington Memorial Parkway and approved the submission. The members are very supportive of the team's strategy to improve the structure's safety features for both the pedestrian-cyclist and motorist, and appreciate the desire to reuse the existing bridge's stone facing on the new structure. The one suggestion made during the presentation was a request that a dark colored metal be specified for the safety handrails to de-emphasize them.
When the final design and construction drawings are ready, please submit them to the staff for the Commission's delegated final review. As always, the staff is available should you require assistance.
Sincerely,
/s/Frederick J. Lindstrom
