Dear Mr. Motl:
In its meeting of 15 June, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed alternative designs for the reverses of the four coins in the 2019 Apollo 11 Fiftieth Anniversary Commemorative Coin Program. The Commission members approved series #3 of similar reverse designs for each of the coins, consistent with the preference of the Mint’s liaison. They requested that the denomination be spelled out in each design instead of using numerals for some coins, and they suggested studying the distorted proportions of the lunar module in comparison to the source photograph.
The Commission is pleased to participate in the competition jury for the obverse designs in this coin program. As always, the staff is available to assist you with future submissions.
