Letter
Dear Mr. Lebryk:
The Commission of Fine Arts reviewed designs for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King Congressional Gold Medal at its 15 September meeting.
The Commission members had no objection to the proposed design for the obverse but raised one issue concerning the reverse design, which depicts the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center above the quotation. As the Center was not in existence at the time of Dr. King’s death, the Commission felt it would seem more appropriate if nothing but the very moving quotation were used; in this way more space could be provided for it, thus increasing its legibility.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas Luebke, AIA
