Dear Mrs. Fore:
At its meeting of 17 July, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed proposed designs for the reverse of the 2004 state quarters from Michigan and Wisconsin. The results were as follows:
Michigan: The preference was for design #1, with the request that the lettering for "Great Lakes State" be made slightly smaller.
Wisconsin: There was no enthusiasm for any of the designs, but it was thought that the theme of "cultural interaction", as depicted in designs #3 and #5, could be more fully developed with an eye towards simplicity. The Commission staff would be happy to look at any revisions.
