Dear Ms. Boles:
During its meeting of 17 March 2005, the Commission reviewed and approved the final design for the interim parking lot and associated landscape on the former convention center site, bounded by 9th, 11th and H Streets and New York Avenue. The Commission supports the bold and whimsical design with its vibrant colors and interesting material palette. The Commission recommends that greater thought should be given to the art banners and the light sticks so they may be as exciting as the parking lot’s horizontal surface or perhaps they should be removed from the project entirely.
Due to the temporary nature of this installation, no further review will be required at this time. The Commission looks forward to the review of the future mixed-use development for this site.
