Letter
Dear Ms. Fuller:
In its public meeting of 18 June conducted by videoconference, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed a concept Area Development Plan (ADP) for the Joint Base Anacostia–Bolling (JBAB) Honor Guard Campus, located north of MacDill Gate, the main entrance for the installation. Requesting more information about how this ADP relates to the larger context of the installation, the Commission did not take an action and instead provided the following comments.
To better understand the underlying rationale and context for the ADP’s proposed alternatives, the Commission members recommended that the project team provide an information presentation on the larger JBAB Installation Development Plan (IDP). They noted that this background information is essential to identify how various topics—such as programming and operations, historic preservation, transportation and parking requirements, and environmental protection—manifest themselves in siting and design for the multiple alternatives.
The Commission looks forward to further review of this important component of the Joint Base Anacostia–Bolling IDP. Please consult on the development of the Area Development Plan with the staff which, as always, is available to assist you.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
