Letter
Dear Mr. McGill:
In the meeting of 18 May, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed the revised concept design of the proposed security barrier on the south stairs of the Frances C. Perkins Building, headquarters of the Department of Labor, at 200 Constitution Avenue, NW. The Commission members appreciated the design team's efforts to develop alternative schemes for the security barrier on the steps; however, they found each of these new schemes to be less agreeable than the initial scheme proposed during the meeting of last February. The Commission approved the initial scheme as the least objectionable configuration of those presented for the barriers on the steps.
As the barrier design is developed for final review, the Commission requests that material samples, a landscape plan, and construction drawings with details be submitted. As always, the Commission staff is available to assist you.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas Luebke, AIA
