Letter
Dear Mr. McGill:
During its meeting of 18 November 2004, the Commission reviewed the proposed concept for exterior public art for the E. Barrett Prettyman Courthouse at Constitution Avenue and 3rd Street. Any artwork for the tympanum should be more integrated with the existing architecture, less cartoon-like and at a scale appropriate to the arch of the tympanum and the rest of the building. The proposed lighting was inappropriate for the building and the site, resembling fixtures often seen on highway billboards. The submission in its entirety was not approved.
The Commission looks forward to further review of this and other projects for the General Services Administration. As always, the staff is available should you require guidance.
Sincerely,
/s/ Frederick J. Lindstrom
