Letter
Dear Mr. Carr:
In its public meeting of 19 February conducted by videoconference, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed a concept submission for new exterior and interior lighting for Washington Union Station, located at 50 Massachusetts Avenue, NE. Expressing strong support for the thorough, careful proposal to protect and highlight the historic fabric, the Commission approved the submission as a final design with the condition that colored lighting not be used to illuminate the exterior or interior of the station.
The Commission looks forward to the completion of the relighting of this iconic building. Please coordinate the submission of final documentation and preparation of lighting mockups with the staff which, as always, is available to assist you.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
