Letter
Dear Dr. Pace:
During its meeting of 19 May 2005, the Commission reviewed and approved the revised concept design for the new Ward One Senior Wellness Center. The members were pleased that the previous scheme had been modified to retain the end corner of the existing row of townhouses and that the building's main entrance way has been relocated to make use of two of the original doorways. Of the two options shown for the third floor addition, the Commission members favor the one featuring the slanted walls. However, they recommend that the design of the third story be restudied to create an orderly configuration and pattern of windows that relates to the existing windows below and to simplify the pattern of the metal sheathing on the sloped walls.
The members once again expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Office of Aging to provide a welcome amenity for the senior members of the Ward One community and to bring life back into these structures. When the final drawings are ready, please submit them to staff for the Commission's delegated approval. As always, the staff is available should you or your design team require additional guidance.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas Luebke, AIA
