Letter
Dear Mr. Ryder:
In its meeting of 20 June, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed the proposed design for a Congressional Gold Medal to honor Anwar El Sadat, the president of Egypt from 1970 to 1981.
Consistent with the preferences of the Sadat family and the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee, the Commission members recommended obverse alternative #4 featuring Sadat’s portrait, and reverse alternative #2 depicting his tomb. Recommending the coordination of the text fonts for this pairing, they expressed a preference for the font presented with reverse #2.
As always, the staff is available to assist you with future submissions.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
