Letter

Dear Mr. Lawler:

In the meeting of 20 April, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed and approved the concept design for the proposed Phase III of the Georgetown Waterfront Park to improve the Potomac riverfront promenade connecting the Georgetown waterfront to the Kennedy Center. The Commission appreciated the separation of the pedestrians and cyclists as an improvement over the existing conditions.

The Commission recommended the planting of shade trees on the river side of the path opposite the benches to provide them with a much-needed amenity in Washington's hot summers.

The Commission looks forward to the review of the final details and material samples as the design is developed.

Sincerely,

Thomas Luebke, AIA
