Letter
Dear Mr. Russo:
During its last meeting of 20 October, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed and approved the final design submission for Lincoln Hall, a new building for the National Defense University at Fort McNair. The members questioned the uniform color of the brick selected for the building because it may be too monolithic in color for such a large structure. They requested that the design team investigate other choices that will include bricks that have some minor variations in color. A material sample panel should be erected on site for review before the materials are ordered. The Commission members delegated to staff the review of final materials and asked that the project team coordinate a site inspection when the sample panel is ready for viewing.
The Commission looks forward to the review of other projects for Fort McNair and the Military District of Washington. As always, the staff is available should you require guidance.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas Luebke, AIA
