Letter
Dear Mr. Peterson:
In its meeting of 21 March, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed design alternatives for a Congressional Gold Medal honoring Raoul Wallenberg's heroic achievements during World War II.
The Commission recommended obverse alternative #7, preferred by Mr. Wallenberg's family as the best likeness. For the reverse, the Commission members offered the general guidance to pursue simplicity and clarity, discouraging the more complex scenic depictions proposed. They recommended alternative #6 as the best option, with the suggestion to reduce the size of the document in the foreground and lower its position, removing the inscription below and providing additional room for depiction of the figures behind.
As always, the staff is available to assist you with future submissions.
Sincerely,
/s/Thomas E. Luebke, FAIA
