Letter
Dear Ms. Fore:
At its meeting on 22 April the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed designs for the reverse of the Texas state quarter. Although there were no specific objections to the preferred design, marked No. 1, the members unanimously agreed that design No.2, with the large star in the center, was more unusual with its emphasis on a single element making a much stronger coin design. It was requested, however, that the small outline of the state at the bottom be deleted, as it seems to be an afterthought and would be barely visible when reduced to quarter size.
Sincerely,
/s/
