Dear Ms. Gillis:
In its meeting of 23 January, the Commission of Fine Arts approved, based on its prior review of the submission materials, the concept design for a replacement building for the Fort Dupont Ice Skating Arena, located at 3779 Ely Place, SE. The Commission suggested that a less intense color be considered for the angled forms of the roofs, due to their vast size and prominence.
The Commission appreciates the responsiveness to the comments made during its previous reviews and anticipates the successful completion of the project. The Commission encourages the design team to continue to consult with the staff in preparing the submission of the final design for review.
