Recommendation

Recommend AGAINST concept design of alterations to storefront as proposed which are out-of-character with contributing historic building. Recommend retention of existing masonry piers, cornice, door frame and other historic fabric. Recommend further study of a design of shop windows that is more compatible to the character of the building. As proposed, the butt-glazing detailing is not appropriate.
