The Commission regrets that signs, fence and awning were installed prior to review or permit. Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for existing signs blocking windows on both Potomac and M St which are not appropriate to the historic building or district. No objection to issuance of permit for existing door as shown in supplemental drawings dated 25 August 2008, and for existing fabric awning PROVIDED lettering reading 'Vivvy's Nails' is limited to front valance and plastic cover is removed. Recommend AGAINST chain link fence on public space adjacent to Subway trash cans which should not occupy public space on a permanent basis. Window signs, lettering on sides of awning and fence must be removed no later than 30 November 2008. Note: Because the application is pending final zoning review, any subsequent modifications to the approved design during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.
