Recommendation
The Commission regrets that replacement of storefronts on terrace overlooking the courtyard was initiated prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement of remaining storefronts on terrace with a medium bronze finish as shown in red-lined supplemental drawings dated 23 August 2012 and for re-anodizing already replaced storefronts to match medium bronze finish. No objection to replacement-in-kind of butt-joined glazing on storefronts at plaza level along C&O Canal and at ground level of residential building with butt-joined 1-in thick tempered glazing as shown in supplemental drawings dated 19 September 2012. Finish of aluminum framing on storefront must match medium bronze finish. Replacement of storefronts with insulated glass and internal mullions was not approved and was deleted from this permit application. Recommend that all storefronts throughout the Flour Mill complex match approved detailing and finish. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.
