AGENDA ITEM EXHIBIT: No objection to the general massing concept in the proposed addition and renovation as shown in drawings received and dated 2 April 2004, with some recommendations for additional study. A reconfiguration of the northeast corner of the building is an appropriate response but the angle of the new facade should more closely match the angle of Maryland Avenue or remain orthogonal. Additional studies of the exterior materials should be undertaken, including the possible improvement in the quality of the material used in the spandrels and a reduction in the reflectivity of the glass. File revised concept submission that responds to recommendations when ready.
