Dear Mr. Cooper:
In its meeting of 16 June, the Commission of Fine Arts reviewed and approved a third concept submission for a new single-family residence on an undeveloped, newly subdivided lot at 7981 East Beach Drive, NW (case number SL 16-129).
The Commission members commented that the design has improved substantially since the last submission, finding that the clarification of the building geometry into two cubic volumes with simplified roof forms has resulted in a house with a more successful relationship to its context. They also observed that the redesign of the exterior stairs and terraces has better integrated the house with its sloping topography and curving street frontage.
The Commission looks forward to review of the next submission, which they requested to be a revised concept submission with development of the approved concept design. As always, the staff is available to assist you.
