Dear Mr. McLain:
In its meeting of 19 October, the Commission of Fine Arts approved, based on its prior review of the submission materials, the concept design for the installation of a circular LED digital screen array on the ceiling above the escalators in the entrance to the Federal Center SW Metro Station, located at 409 Third Street, SW (case number SL 18-003). The Commission members present recommended approval of the concept submission, provided that the screens do not display lettering or advertising, and they encouraged the design team to continue to consult with the staff in preparing the submission of the final design.
As a quorum was not present for the review of this submission, this recommendation will be placed on the administrative agenda for confirmation at the Commission’s next meeting. As always, the staff is available to assist you.
