Consent Calendar: CFA Meeting — 15 February 2018

No objection to the concept design for the rehabilitation of the Netherlands Carillon, including safety and visitor access improvements, as shown in materials received and dated 1 February 2018. Recommend the preferred alternative for the proposed mesh infill at the existing outside handrails on the upper stairs, and recommend, for the observation deck railings, that the guardrails be reconfigured to match the existing pickets with a four-inch spacing, which will better replicate appearance of their original configuration. For the proposed future work, recommend the preferred alternative to add mesh to the gates, the existing hoppers, and to add mesh infill at the railings.

No objection to the proposed modifications to the southern curb line of the 400 block of E Street, NW, adjacent to the east and west sides of of the National Law Enforcement Museum street frontage, as shown in materials received and dated 1 February 2018. These modifications to the previously approved street configuration (see case numbers CFA 21/JUN/07-4 and CFA 17/JAN/13-2) will be in place until the District of Columbia Courts and the U.S. Court of Military Appeals extend their portions of the southern E Street curb line as shown in the approved Judiciary Square Master Plan. No objection to the concept design for the proposed vehicle access control point and perimeter fence at the North Village on the Pentagon reservation, as shown in materials received and dated 1 February 2018.

No objection to the final design for the proposed rear yard fence and the installation of a low retaining wall at the rear of the Embassy of Bangladesh compound located in the International Center, as shown in materials received and dated 26 January 2018. Refer to DC Historic Preservation Office.

No objection to the installation of a perimeter security fence with a vehicular cable barrier at the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore compound in the International Center, as shown in materials received and dated 31 January 2018, provided that the top of the individual fence pickets are vertically straight and not curved, and that the new fence and/or the fence-wall combinations are no taller than ten feet maximum in height.
