Consent Calendar: CFA Meeting — 18 July 2019

No objection to the concept design for the installation of a temporary universal access ramp on the southwest side of the Memorial Amphitheater, as shown in materials received and dated 3 July 2019. Refer to the Virginia State Historic Preservation Office.

No objection to the final plans for the in-kind replacement of awnings and aluminum storefronts for the National Children's Museum, located in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, as shown in materials received and dated 2 July 2019. Recommend against painting the precast concrete planters bright white, which will discolor quickly and be difficult to maintain. Suggest painting the planters a neutral color similar to the stone facades of the Reagan Building. Refer to DC Historic Preservation Office.

No objection to issuance of a permit for sidewalk, stair, and cheek wall alterations, per drawings received 9 July 2019, which indicate the cheek walls will be rebuilt to match existing, the existing brick connection to the street will be retained, and the sidewalk level will be raised slightly, resulting in the loss of the existing bottom step. Note that the new brick design will preserve the historic location of the bottom step. Refer to DC Historic Preservation Office.

No objection to the concept design for improvements to Walter Pierce Park, as shown in materials received and dated 3 July 2019. The project includes the replacement of the playground equipment, stabilization of the hillside, and the installation of a small public toilet structure. Recommend that the toilet structure be placed in the alternate location, on the brick terrace close to the ball court. Refer to DC Historic Preservation Office.
