No objection to the final design for the ground disturbance and utilities package at the Arabian leopard habitat, per materials received 7 May 2026. The project is one component of a larger undertaking to construct a new Arabian leopard habitat at the National Zoo. The other components will be a future submission. Scope of this component includes demolition of existing structures and construction of bioretention areas. Existing trees along Olmsted Walk will be protected and retained.

No objection to the final design for the renovation of the beaver, otter, and raven habitat at the National Zoo per materials received 7 May 2026 PROVIDED that the cladding concept one from the initial study is used that includes fiber cement panels for the exterior and thermally modified wood for the canopy and around the existing green roof. The green-colored cement panels are preferred. Scope of work includes the following: removing existing faux rock from the site; recladding of the life support systems and Raven holding building; revitalizing the beaver and otter habitats, regrading the south pathway providing ADA accessibility, and installing new animal containment site walls.

No objection to the revised final design for new boiler plant equipment at the U.S. Secret Service Headquarters located at 950 H Street, NW, per materials received 7 May 2026. Scope consists of a building-wide energy retrofit including the installation of a natural gas-fired hot water boiler plant, a gas meter, flues, and several grates. The project was revised to relocate the flue on the rear of the building. This project is one component of a larger initiative, the National Deep Energy Retrofit, which is an energy conservation program for federal buildings.

No objection to the final design for the slope stabilization and sidewalk repair project at Kalorama Park, per materials received 7 May 2026. Scope includes stabilizing slopes, new plantings, upgrading some park furniture, and enhancing ADA access by repairing the sidewalk in several locations.

No objection to the final design for a renovated recreation center and associated landscape improvements, per materials received 7 May 2026. Scope of work includes renovation of the existing building and the following landscape improvements: a new skate park, a new multi-use plaza, a boardwalk, resurfacing the basketball and tennis courts, and replacing the playground equipment. A new volleyball court has been removed from the proposal.

No objection to the final design to partially demolish, relocate, and reconfigure Building 88 (Blackburn Laboratory) on a site to the west to accommodate the extension of Sycamore Street, SE, per materials received 7 May 2026. Submission indicates that moving the building to the original relocation site was deemed not feasible because of the its challenging structural conditions. Refer to DC Historic Preservation Office.

No objection to the final design to install a new emergency generator at Fire Engine Company 2 per materials received 7 May 2026. Scope of work includes installing a 250kW generator adjacent to the southeast corner of the existing building to provide power to the facility in the event of a power outage.
