The Commission regrets that removal of brick on front facade was initiated prior to review or permit. No objection to issuance of permit for proposed replacement of face brick with new brick combined with salvaged re-usable original brick. New brick will match dimensions of historic brick as shown in sample labeled 'Purington Paver' submitted 23 February 2009. Mortar joint composition and dimensions must match original coursing for the tooth-in of the bricks. Recommend AGAINST the installation of shutters on the front facade. Existing satellite dish on roof must be moved to a location where it will not be visible from street.

Recommend AGAINST issuance of permit for banner at second floor of M St facade as proposed, which is inappropriate to the historic district. Existing "Open" neon sign behind second floor window installed without review or permit must be removed no later than 30 April 2009.

No objection to issuance of permit for proposed repair and retention of window units with option to replace window sashes with reproduction single-glazed true-divided-lite 6/6 wood window sashes only when existing one cannot be repaired. Reproduction windows must match detailing of existing windows. Recommend nailed-on shutters which are not appropriate to the historic district be removed as part of this project. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.

No objection to concept design for proposed replacement of windows on front of bay with insulated double-hung 2/2 true-divided-lite wood windows with 1 3/4-inch muntins. Recommend 1/1 windows be used at rear facade rather than proposed casement windows. File new submission of working drawings, including details and dimensions, with permit application for review by the Commission when ready.

No objection to issuance of permit for alterations to existing entrance with concrete portal, canted curtain wall with Viracon glass 40% dot, flat-seam zinc roofing, and new mechanical, historic bank building to have new zinc roof with 1" standing seams, as shown in supplemental drawings dated 18 March 2009. Note: Any subsequent modifications to the exterior design made during DCRA technical review must be re-submitted to the Commission for approval prior to issuance of permit.
